August 15th Weird Medicine

Filed under: Podcast — dr steve @ 10:25 pm

I have this resident named Erin and she demanded that I start being more timely regarding uploading Weird Medicine episodes.   So here is the first of the two “all voicemail” episodes that we did while O&A were on vacation.

These shows were a dry run for the 3 hour Fecalicious Extravaganza that will air soon on the SNV, and that was a dry run for the upcoming LIVE SHOWS from NYC and the Nashville XM-Sirius studios.   What we’re really hoping (and this is all still up in the air) is that Sirius will appreciate the value of Weird Medicine and will book it monthly for a three hour live show.   We’ll still go to NYC yearly to shove fingers up people’s rectums, but the pre-recorded shows will be no more.   We’ll see!  Erock and Danny are helping us with this and we’ll post more when we know more.

This show contains adult content (as do they all).   Since the tag generator in WordPress doesn’t work with this custom theme, here are the topics we covered:

Billy Mays Toxicology Report
Hair Follicle Drug Tests
Semen taste
Genital Warts
Human Papilloma Virus
Fear of Flying
Anxiety
Square Breathing
Smoking Cessation
Condoms and Erectile Dysfunction

July 4th Dead Celebrity Special 2009

We asked for airtime to discuss medical problems that are related to the current crop of dead celebrities, including Michael Jackson (why do doctors treat celebrities differently than “normal” patients?), Billy Mays (how to avoid sudden cardiac death), and Farrah Fawcett (diagnosis and treatment of rectal cancer). I really, really tried to use these peoples’ demise as a jumping off point to discuss something relevant or interesting to our audience. Everyone else has done the tribute/bashing/whatever; I wanted to do something a little different.  We tried “turning the senseless deaths of famous people into information you can use to try to live forever.”

Thanks to sam and dave for giving up their airtime over the holiday weekend. They’re purty good fellers.

Thanks to mj@musclesorority.com for getting three of us on her program. Double Vasectomy Todd has regained almost 2 inches of lost manhood on her program. If you’re interested in talking to her, she’s very reasonable cost-wise, and really knows her stuff.

We are working hard toward a live show Oct 17th from NYC, and possibly another live show Labor Day weekend from Nashville.  Stay tuned.

your pal,

Steve

PS: Check out the WEIRD MEDICINE STORE!  This is new and all proceeds will go to keeping Live shows on the air.

Weird Medicine May 16 2009

Filed under: Podcast — dr steve @ 4:01 pm

When we did this one, we had no idea it would be the last scheduled “Weird Medicine” on the old schedule.   With the new schedule (Ron and Fez 11-3) and with the 7-9 Saturday Night slot gone, we’re not sure where we’ll end up.   We’re on summer hiatus for the next few weeks and as soon as we know our fate we’ll post it here and on the message boards.

This show contains the beginning of Double Vasectomy Todd’s weight loss/schlong length program (courtesy of trainer-extraordinaire MJ Kovaleski, AKA Steve C’s fiancee.

There’s some other cool crud in here as well.    Enjoy!

your pal,

Steve

PS: if you’d like to express your support for Weird Medicine on Sirius-XM, send an email to drsteve at doctorsteve dot com with the subject “Bring Back Weird Medicine” and we’ll forward it along to the appropriate authorities. 🙂

May 2 2009 Weird Medicine

This show was recorded at the very beginning of the Swine Flu pandemic.  We did a long segment at the beginning of the show on H1N1 as well as a long segment on chest pain and why a lot of men try to blow it off when it happens.  Rob from Elizabethton stars in that segment, spouting every rationalization that men who ignore chest pain spout.  We also have another call from Shannon from South Florida, cover Peanut Allergy, and Suboxone for narcotic addiction.   A somewhat more serious show, given our more recent efforts, but one of the best shows so far also.  Oh, and one funny segment that shows why we keep our terrestrial show very, very separate from our XM show.

The next show should be a great one.  ‘Nuff said!

“Most Mediocre of” Weird Medicine Aired April 25 2009

Filed under: Podcast — dr steve @ 11:08 pm

Ok, it went like this…

Someone canceled their 9pm Saturday Night Virus show (who would do such a thing?) and “Special Delivery” stepped up to the plate.   This left their regular 6pm slot open.  Big Kev had the 5pm slot, so Erock asked us if we could do a show on really short notice (like less than a day).  As the typical Weird Medicine show takes me an average of 8 hours of show prep over several nights, I figured why not try a “Best of” show.   We’ve been doing this for 2 years, surely we have enough material to do a one hour retrospective.  Ugh, I was so sick of hearing my own voice drone on and on as I was reviewing the old shows, I really despaired that we’d be able to put together a credible show.

Double Vasectomy Todd and PA John were able to make it (Jefferson the Shyster being in court that day) so we did it “Live on tape” rather than just compiling a bunch of crap and calling it a show.

I asked Erik to send us all of our XM material (there’s 7 1/2 hours of live stuff) in good quality audio so we can make a “real” best of some day.

Anyway, this was a fun experiment;  hope you enjoy it.

April 18th 2009 Weird Medicine

Filed under: Podcast — dr steve @ 11:02 pm

This may be a turning point for us;  for the first time we started to feel really comfortable just talking about stuff;   we’re really trying to work on an entertaining “conversation about health care” which can be a pretty dry subject.   We do have fun with it, as the finale of the AssCrack Challenge demonstrates.  I think Erock told us that the new powers that be at Sirius will be listening to this one.   Hope we don’t just get tossed summarily off the air. 🙂

Contents:

PA John’s baby (which one is the real baby?)

Pat and Big A update (treasurer’s report)

Asscrack Finale: Wherein Dr Steve gets a “Male Posterior Brazilian” wax “live” on tape to the merriment of all

Francois Rabelais’ “Gargantua and Pantagruel”, 16th century advice on arsewiping brought to life

Herpes

Epididymitis

Radio War: LIAM vs ESD (also LIAM vs OPIE)

Genital Vitiligo

We enjoyed doing this one;   hope you all dig it.

April 4, 2009 Weird Medicine

This entry includes perianal depilitation, e-cigarettes, frottage, fluorescent urine, and prostatic congestion AKA “Blue Balls”.   Oh, and we exposed the condition known as “Cello Scrotum” as a hoax, and discussed male preference for areola size.   All in all, a busy show.

For those who are interested, we continue our coverage of the Canadian Healthcare system through the trials and tribulations of our friend “Lana from Canada” who is trying to get decisive help for her severe endometriosis.   Oh, and a nice phone call from Pat from Moonachie, too.   If you’d like to help Pat and Big A pay for their medical expenses while we wait for the government to come up with a safety net for the “working poor”, check out the post below.

We’re now on every other Saturday night at 5pm Eastern.   This is our new spot until SiriusXM decides to change it again.   As always we appreciate the tons of support we get for this show.   You all are truly great.

your pal,

Steve

This was the file we used to re-pitch our show to Sirius after the merger.

Please Lord, make it be good enough. 🙂

Liam’s Ashley Madison Contest Entry

Filed under: Podcast — dr steve @ 11:45 pm

Liam is notorious on XM 202/SIRI 197 thanks to his Weird Medicine promos that Ron and Fez were kind enough to run.   When O&A had the idea of running a “make your own Ashley Madison commercial”,  I figured ol’ Liam would be a shoo-in.

Well, in the end, the spot isn’t very complimentary to Ashley Madison, and the bleeps make it sound like this 5 year old kid is saying “bitch” and “f#$(” (he really said “butt” and “play with”…) so it really wasn’t going to win any contests, but here it is for your enjoyment.

January 2009 Weird Medicine

Filed under: Podcast — dr steve @ 10:15 pm

Making a bit of a turn from our more recent shows, this one was all medical questions from email and ronfez.net.  We covered a lot of ground and cleared out some of the inbox.

For the near future, our show will be on monthly at 7pm before the Saturday night virus (4pm on the West coast), and is replayed at 1pm the next day.   My son will be cutting a promo very soon about this situation. 🙂

The last 2 minutes of the show featured “Jonathan and Darlene Edwards” version of “Staying Alive”.   Jonathan and Darlene reveled in bad music back in the 70s, and I used to use their version of “Carioca” on my “comedy” talk show on WCAR called “Wike and Waku” in 1975.  You can check them out here.

Also that website of legit Candadian Pharmacies can be found here.

We had some repeat requests for the Weird Medicine theme song, “Paging Doctor Steve” by the talented Sherwin Sleeves.   Here it is again!
